Before the Berlin Wall came down, East Germany was very much like Russia. This is because after having lost the Second World War, West Germany was ruled by America, France, and England, and East Germany was ruled by Russia. Russia was Communist. Its agrarian system consisted of a community where all farmers owned all the machines, and all the gains from the harvest. A single farmer didn't own anything.In East Germany, such agrarian communities were called LPG's (Landwirtschaftliche Produktionsgenossenschaften). You see one on the picture. All people worked for the good for all people. No single farmer could get rich.
Imagine you lived in East Germany or Russia at that time, and you were convinced that communism and LPG's are a good thing. What could have been good about everybody owning everything together? Write down a couple of reasons.
